Mrs. Sadie Dianne Hiatt Samuel, 58, of Pilot Mountain, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2009, at her home. Mrs. Samuel was born May 2, 1951, to the late Lunnie Alma and Sarah Frances Terrell Hiatt. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Mrs. Samuel is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Michael Dale Dean of Ranger, WV; a son and daughter-in-law, Derrick and Lisa Samuel of Mount Airy; a stepdaughter and her husband, Kim and Larry Spence of Mount Airy; two grandchildren, Madison Hope Dean and Nicholas Michael Dean; three stepgrandchildren, Chris Dean, Melissa Speaks, and Matthew Spence; nine step-great-grandchildren; five sisters and a brother-in-law, Margaret Frazier, Rhumell Humphries, and Roena and Doug Johnson, all of Mount Airy, Sara Dawson of Winston-Salem, and Roberta Whitaker of Ararat; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Calvin and Peggy Hiatt of Alberta, Canada, James and Pamela Hiatt of Atlanta, GA, and Clyde and Jeri Hiatt and Lionell and Becky Hiatt, all of Mount Airy; and a special friend, Diane Murray of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Samuel was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Samuel; four sisters, Hazel Hiatt, Doris Ann Hiatt, Carimae Macy, and Patricia Caudle; and a brother, Raymond Hiatt. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 17, 2009, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, by Elder David Culler, Elder Clyde Hiatt, and Elder Lionell Hiatt. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
