Mr. Sam Hasten Haymore, 89, of Dobson, passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2010, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. He was born December 3, 1920, in Surry County, to the late William Edgar and Lucy Frances Draughn Haymore. Sam was a retired farmer and a gifted carpenter. He was a dedicated member of Salem Fork Baptist Church, where he served on the Board of Deacons for many years. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 70 years, Mary Isabelle Branch Haymore; three sons and daughters-in-law, E.L. and Nora Haymore, Gray and Becky Haymore, and Terry and Donna Haymore, all of Dobson; four grandchildren, Candace Johnson of Dobson, Dr. Molly Fisher and her husband, Fred, of Lexington, KY, Dacia Benton and her husband, Nathan, of Whitsett, and Toby White and her husband, Matthew, of Dobson; two great-grandchildren, Bailey Johnson and Brody Johnson, both of Dobson; and a brother and sister-in-law, Grover and Olene Haymore of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Haymore was preceded in death by three sisters, Margie Hiatt, Lillian Simpson, and Callie Atkins; and a brother, Ellis "Buck" Haymore. The funeral service will be held Friday, November 5, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Salem Fork Baptist Church, with the Rev. Van Brindle and the Rev. Tom Parker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson, where his body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. The family may also be contacted at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Gray and Becky Haymore, 282 Crossroads Church Road, Dobson. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Salem Fork Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 491, Dobson, NC 27017.
