Sam Robert Holt

Mr. Sam Robert Holt, 86, of 5858 Westfield Road, Westfield, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday afternoon, May 1, 2016, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Holt was born April 10, 1930, in Patrick County, VA, the son of the late Bob and Lottie Beverly Holt. Sam retired from Kentucky Derby Hosiery after many years of service. He is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Evelean Holt Schwartz and Christine H. and Steve Gordon, all of Pinnacle, and Elizabeth H. and Mark Quesinberry of Pilot Mountain; six sons and three daughters-in-law, Frank Holt and Tony and Diane Holt, all of King, Darrell Holt and Dale Holt, both of Pinnacle, and Clyde and Gloria Holt and Norman and Sue Holt, all of Mount Airy; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Martha Bowman of Sandy Ridge; a brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Terri Holt of Mount Airy; several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Sam Bowman of Westfield; and a special great nephew, Robert Bullins of Westfield. In addition to his parents, Mr. Holt was preceded in death by two sisters, Iva Pack and Lelia Goins; and a brother, Amos Holt. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at 4:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Jerry Pardue and the Rev. Jack Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in The Peoples Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 3:00 until 4:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
