Samuel Goad

Mr. Samuel Swanson Goad, 86, of Cana, VA, passed away at Twin County Regional Hospital Monday, June 28, 2021.  He was born in Carroll County, VA, November 7, 1934, to the late Charles Henry and Jane Smith Goad.  Mr. Goad was a kind man that loved his family and was a friend to many.  He retired from Proctor after many years of service.  Mr. Goad is survived by his daughter Penny King; sons and a daughter-in-law, Sammy and Sybil Goad, and Charles Goad; grandchildren, Neil Patel, Stephanie Noonkester and Sam, Christa Patel and Greg, Jessica Whorley and Justin, and Aaron Goad and Meagan; great grandchildren, Grayson Whorley, Kishore Patel, Tucker Noonkester, and Paisley Goad; and a sister Maxine Snow.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Goad was preceded in death by his wife Thelma Catherine Snow Goad; and sisters, Hattie Sorrick and Polly Busick.  A graveside service will be held at 3:30 PM, Thursday, July 1, 2021, at New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Gary Horton officiating.  There will be no formal visitation.  In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.  Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
