Samuel Harrison Goins

Mr. Samuel "Sam" Harrison Goins, 66, of 403 Massey Road, Mount Airy, passed away Saturday, August 14, 2010, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Goins was born October 3, 1943, in Surry County, to the late Charlie Reid and Roberta Phillips Goins. He was employed in the furniture industry for many years. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Haynes Goins of the home; a stepson, Danny Bateman of Mount Airy;, three grandchildren, Josh Bateman of Mount Airy, Jennifer Smith of Dobson, and Justin Peele of Mount Airy; a great-grandchild, Kylie Bateman of Mount Airy; a sister, Charlotte St. Clare of Dobson; and his mother-in-law, Georgia Haynes of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Goins was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Denise Goins Dillon; four sisters, Peggy Horton, Mary Lou Goins, Stella Yarbrough, and Hazel Dixon; and three brothers, Coy Goins, Bobby Goins, and Pete Goins. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 17, 2010, at 2:00 PM at The People Church, with the Rev. Josh Holder and Rev. Eugene Brinkley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from noon until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Moody Funeral Services, P.O. Box 1288, Mount Airy, NC 27030 to assist with funeral expenses.
