Mr. Samuel Earl Harding, Sr., 85, of Pilot Mountain, passed away Monday, April 12, 2021, at Village Care of King. Mr. Harding was born July 8, 1935, in Davie County, the son of the late Speer Aaron and Pearl Clifton Harding. He retired from Pike Electric and was a veteran of the United States Navy. Earl was an avid golfer and enjoyed going to Pilot Knob Golf Club each day to visit with his friends. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie and Greg Pettus and Suzette and Lane Jessup; a son and daughter-in-law, Sam and Jill Harding; and his grandchildren, Tara Danley and her spouse, Jeffery, Kaylie Jessup, Daniel Harding, and Garrett Harding. In addition to his parents, Mr. Harding was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Brenda J. Harding; two sisters, Ruth Nelson and Margie Gravitte; and two brothers, Henry Harding and Corky Harding. A graveside service will be held Thursday, April 15, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Pilot Mountain City Cemetery, with the Rev. Gene Sherrill officiating. Full military honors will be conducted by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. No formal visitation will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VFW Memorial Honor Guard, c/o Harlan Hawks, 285 Pine Ridge Trail, Pinnacle, NC 27043.
