Samuel Riley Rule

Mr. Samuel Riley Rule, 85, of 2553 Westfield Road, Mount Airy, passed away Monday morning, February 15, 2010, at his home. Mr. Rule was born December 18, 1924, in Surry County, son of the late Archie Dean and Katherine Gwyn Rule. Sam served our country in the United States Marine Corp during World War II. He retired as a private contractor and was a member of Bannertown Baptist Church. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca and George Womble of Buies Creek and Bess Jane "B.J." and Mickey Love of Westfield; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Armida Rule of Pilot Mountain and Samuel James and Kay Rule of Asheville; ten grandchildren and their spouses, Brandon and Georgia P. Love, Travis and Lucy S. Love, Matthew and Mary Ruth C. Love, Christopher and Tory E. Rule, Lance and Lindsey R. White, Christopher and Robin W. Blackmore, Badgett Womble, Paul and Holly W. Buceti, Sam and Amanda C. Rule, and Nicholas and Lynn R. Perkins; sixteen great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Tish Caudle, Mildred Short, and Shirley Caudle, all of Mount Airy; and several special nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Rule was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Jeannette Caudle Rule; a sister; and two brothers. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, February 17, 2010, at 11:00 AM at Skyline Memory Gardens, with the Rev. Rusty Reed officiating and assisted by the Rev. Milton Sewell. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. A special thanks is extended to dad's wonderful caregivers, Alledia, Linda, Carolyn, Missy, and Julie along with Linda and Tracy from Mountain Valley Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bannertown Baptist Church, 1834 Westfield Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030; Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030; or to The Gideons International, Memorial Bible Program, P.O.
