Samuel “Sam” Jackson Gravely, owner of Gravely’s Appliance Service for over 32 years and a member of Anchor Baptist Church, passed from this life Thursday, January 13, 2022, in the arms of his Savior. He was born on June 10, 1941, in Surry County to the late William Clinton Gravely and Thelma Ethel Hudson Gravely. He was a loving husband, beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Thelma Gravely; his brother, William Leo Gravely; and a son-in-law, Billy Wade Carter. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Myrtle Goin Gravely; one sister, Glenda Norman and Roger; brother, Jimmy Ray Gravely; his children, Brenda Duncan and Ronnie, Tony Gravely, Andy Gravely and Amy, April Carter, Michael Gravely and fiancé Jenny, and David Gravely and April; his grandchildren, Stephany Sprinkle and Caleb, Madison Stephenson and Brian, Nick Hicks, Amber Gravely, Samuel (Austin) Gravely, Kayah Gravely, Meagan Gardner and Jonathan, Samuel Toney, Dylan Gravely and Haley, Haley Shelton and Junior, Kainen Gravely, and Abigail Gravely; and many great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Skyline Memory Gardens with Brother Ron Hall and Dr. Randy Edwards officiating. The family would like to thank all of the staff at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital for the great care that was provided. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Gravely family.
