Sandra Sue Sardler

Mrs. Sandra Sue Sardler, 68, of Mt. Airy passed away on March 21, 2020 at the Woltz Hospice House in Dobson.  She was born in Logan, West Virginia to the late Roy and Jessie Love Smith.

Sue was a special person whose warmth and spirit drew people to her.  She was often referred to as Sweet Sue.  But it was her strength that defined her as a special lady.  It was her strength to leave the family she loved in West Virginia, that brought her, husband Joe and her children Joe Joe, Tony, and Tammy, to North Carolina. She treasured her brother and sister-in-laws, Terry and Diane Sardler, and their children Penny Sue and Scotty and Natasha.  Through her strength and the constant support of her beloved husband Joe, she worked various jobs, often shifts, so she was sure not to miss any event her children would participate in.  Her strength kept a roof over their heads and food on the table.  It also took strength to allow the children, whom she loved greatly, to choose their path; to marry whom they loved and to allow them to live their lives without interference.

Ten years ago, she mustered that strength again by coming out of a major heart attack event.  And for the next 10 years she would battle for her life.  Through good and bad she took each day strong in the earnest desire to be with her family.  Always a Godly woman her faith began to blossom.  She read her Bible more, prayed more and loved her church. It was God’s mercy she called upon as she cried in pain and it was on God’s timing she depended as she moved closer to going to her heavenly home.  Her constant testimony to medical staff and friends was “God was in charge and all would be in His time.”

She leaves behind a family precious to her and loved to the end: Her husband of 50 years, Joseph Chester Sardler, sons, Joseph Chester Sardler, Jr (Marie), Tony Sardler (Christine), daughter, Tammy Gammons (Kenny), grandsons,  Jeremy Sardler ( Tabi), Greg Thorn (Becca), step-granddaughter, Rosa Poindexter (Todd), five great grandchildren, Kassidy, Katie and Keegan Poindexter, Kira Sardler and Avery Sardler.  Also surviving are sisters Pat Miller Madison (Roger) and Carol Sloan (Bill), brothers Dwayne Smith and Wendell Dean Smith.  Mrs. Sardler was preceded in death by her father and mother, a sister Joyce Krabb, step-grandson Robert Browne, and special niece Penny Sardler.

Services will be held Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at 2:00 at Beulahland Baptist Church by the Rev. Daniel Ritchey and the Rev. Anthony Gordy.
