Sandra Sue "Granny" Wood Jones

Mrs. Sandra Sue “Granny” Wood Jones, age 71 of Mount Airy, passed away after a battle with cancer, at her home on Monday January 13, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Forsyth County on April 23, 1953, to the late John and Rebecca Huffine Foster. She worked for Mount Airy City Schools as a Teacher’s Assistant for 27 years, making lifelong bonds and leaving her mark on many. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 53 years, Ronald “Ron” Clinton Jones of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Eric Jones, and John and Carrie Jones; grandchildren, Courtney Jones, Gavin Jones and Sydni Smith, Trevor Jones, Jayleen Jones, Christian Gillett, and Charity Pearson; special cousins, Sammy and Sherrill Crater, Karen and Dale Harrell, Kathy Shaw, and Kevin and Dinene Crater; as well as many other family and friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by a son, Clinton Douglas “Doug” Jones. Sandra, or Sandy as she was called by most, was sunshine in human form. She loved with her whole heart, and if you were lucky enough to be loved by her, then this loss means your life will never be the same. She lived and breathed for her family and friends, never failing to bring laughter, fun, and magic. She was absolutely one of a kind, and she lived every single day to the fullest, reveling in the beautiful life she built. She was strong in her faith, and she was met in Heaven with a tie-dye sky and her son, Doug. Funeral services will be held Thursday January 16, 2025, at 2:00pm at Albion Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Rickey Easter and Rev. Ricky Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1:00 – 2:00pm at the church. The family thanks Mountain Valley Hospice for their outstanding care.
