Sandra Kaye Vernon

Sandra Kaye Vernon, 67, of Mount Airy, passed away at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home Thursday, June 23, 2022.  Sandra was born May 18, 1955, the only child to the late Oscar Carlos and Audrey Quesinberry Vernon.  Sandra graduated from Mt. Airy High School in 1973, and was a Follower of Christ.  She had the faith and humbleness of a child, embracing life with joy and happiness deeply rooted in her heart.  Sandra is survived by cousins and caregivers, Delores Hill and husband Roger, Amy Haynes and husband Gray, aunts, Claudia Browning, Labenia Benfield, Jewel Hutchens; uncles, Alfred Vernon and wife Marie, Roy Hiatt and wife Jane; and several other cousins; special friends, Anne Haynes, Barbara Riley, and Sandy Atkins.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, June 26, 2022, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy, with Dennis Kinnan and Jim Holt officiating.  Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.  The family has requested memorial contributions be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care or to the charity of the donor’s choice.  Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
