Sandy Lee Slate

Mr. Sandy Lee Slate, 62, of Fancy Gap, passed away unexpectedly at his home Saturday, January 15, 2022. He was born in Surry County, October 22, 1959, to the late Claude and Catherine Gordon Slate. Mr. Slate was a kind, sweet man that loved his family, and cherished the time spent with them. He was the Director of Professional Services at Blue Ridge Rehabilitation Center in Martinsville for many years. He was currently employed with Red Roof Inn. Mr. Slate is survived by his partner of 42 years, Keith Hensley; a brother and sisters-in-law, Teddy Ray and Barbara Slate, Melissa Slate, Joanne Slate, Janice Gordon; many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Slate was preceded in death by a sister Trudy Lynn Slate; and brothers, Jerry Gray Slate, Rev. Jimmy Slate, and Larry Gordon. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, January 20, 2022, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
