Mrs. Sarah Ann Nester Anderson, 72, formerly of Mount Airy, NC, and Norfolk, VA, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2007, at Chesapeake General Hospital in Chesapeake, VA, surrounded by her family. Born September 30, 1934, in Mount Airy, NC, she was the daughter of Eleanor Simmons Nester and the late Dexter M. Nester. She worked for Leggett/Belk Department Store in Norfolk, VA, from 1978 to 1996 and then transferred to the Belk Department Store in Mount Airy, NC, retiring in 2006. She is survived by her five children, Lisa Hurst and husband, Lee Hurst, Jr., Laura Boyd, Matthew Anderson, and Joel Anderson, all of Chesapeake, VA, and Nancy Bell of Virginia Beach, VA; five grandchildren, Amanda Hurst, Jonathan Hurst and wife, Meriam, Heather Boyd and fiance, Stacie Gresham, and Brittany Boyd, all of Chesapeake, VA, and Courtney Bell of Virginia Beach, VA; three great grandsons who brought joy into in her life and put a smile on her face, Ayden Hurst, Xavier Gresham, and Zander Gresham, all of Chesapeake, VA; her mother, Eleanor Simmons Nester of Mount Airy, NC; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Shirlene Nester, Edward and Sandra Nester, and Wayne and Jackie Nester, all of Mount Airy, NC; two brothers-in-law, Don Moler and Roy Anderson; and seven sisters-in-law, Ethel Anderson, Essie Bishop, Ossie Caldwell, Evelyn Anderson, Georgie Anderson, Dorothy Setzer, and Polly Scales. In addition to her father, Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Joe Bill Anderson; a son, Jeffrey D. Anderson; a sister, June Nester Moler; and her beloved cat, Kitty. The funeral service will be held Saturday, April 14, 2007, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, NC. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Jimmy Kirkman, and burial will follow in the Skyline Memory Gardens. The family visitation will be held Friday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 at the funeral home. The family wants to thank ComfortCare Home Health Services for their valuable help.
