Sarah Viola Easter Dawson

Mrs. Sarah Viola Easter Dawson, 89, of Cana, VA, passed away Friday, April 25, 2008, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Dawson was born March 29, 1919, in Carroll County, VA, to the late Jeremiah Levi and Elva Matilda Hill Easter. She retired from Pine State Knitwear and was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church. She loved cooking, gardening, and caring for her family as long as her health permitted. Mrs. Dawson is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and the Rev. Oscar Hill of Cana, VA; a daughter-in-law, Rachel Dawson of Cana, VA; grandchildren and spouses, Todd and Delores Hill, Tim Hill, April Dawson, and Stephanie and Daniel Creed; great-grandchildren, Kyla Hill, Kirby Hill, Logan Dawson, Krissa Hill, and Janie Throckmorton; and a special nephew and spouse, Waymond and Jo Dawson. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dawson was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Otto Dawson; a son, Jerry Dawson; a sister, Mozella Noah; and four brothers, Isaac Easter, Alex Easter, Ernest Easter, and Homer Easter. The funeral service will be held Saturday, April 26, 2008, at 3:00 PM at Oak Ridge Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by the Rev. David "Buster" Sechrist, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where her body will rest until time to be taken to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the service.
