Sarah "Jewel" Miller Hicks

Mrs. Sarah “Jewel” Miller Hicks, 83, of Mt. Airy passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born in Lee County, VA on April 22, 1933 to the late Lloyd Wheaton and Anna Sharpe Miller. Mrs. Hicks was retired from Renfro and was the owner and operator of Jewel’s Dolls and was affectionately known as the “doll lady”. She dedicated her life to serving the Lord and raising her children and grandchildren. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Eddie Lilly, LuAnn and Paul Moore; step daughters, Pat and James Crim, Brenda and Marvin Shropshire; step son, Norris Allen Hicks, Jr. and Carolyn; grandchildren and spouses, Heather and Darren Luke, Chris Hicks, Seth Moore, Logan Moore, Alan Grey Noonkester, Mark Noonkester, Lauren and Mike Privett, Kaylan Shealy, Don and Alison Carter, Deana Baum, Lydon Lilly, and Jeremiah and Krista Lilly; great grandchildren, Darien Luke, Delaney Luke, Christy Noonkester, Calvin Dutton, Jason and Kara Dutton, Nick Dutton, Kearstin Shealy, Gunner Lilly, and Liam Lilly; and all who called her MomMaw. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hicks was preceded in death by her husband, Norris Allen Hicks, Sr.; a sister, Mary Helen Crouse; and brothers, Lloyd, Jack, and Curtis Miller. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard Weagraff officiating. Burial will follow in Old Hollow Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 until 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy.
