Sarah Elizabeth Barker Kinzer

Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth "Lizzie" Barker Kinzer, 99, of Mount Airy, passed away Monday, April 27, 2009, at Waddell Nursing Center in Galax, VA. Mrs. Kinzer was born March 14, 1910, in Surry County, to Joseph and Victoria Johnson Barker. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving are a daughter, Jacqueline Sawyers of Mount Airy; three sons and daughters-in-law, Will Ray and Clarene Kinzer of Mount Airy, Robert "Bob" and Magdalene Kinzer of Winston-Salem, and Roger and Wanda Kinzer of Greensboro; a son-in-law, Gilbert Bolin of Winston-Salem; eleven grandchildren, Jerry Sawyers, Billy Sawyers, Lacy Sawyers, Jr., Greg Sawyers, Kenneth Kinzer, Sabrina Gatewood, Sandi Kuhlman, Brian Edwards, Mike Edwards, Angie Osbourne, and Suzanne Kinzer; thirteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a sister and brother-in-law, Geneva and Clarence Wilson. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Kinzer was preceded in death by her husband, William Saunders Kinzer; a daughter, Wada Lee Bolin; five sisters; and three brothers. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at 11:00 AM at Bannertown Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Todd E. Byrd. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
