Ms. Sarah Ann Cockerham Leftwich, 81, of Mount Airy, passed away Monday evening, February 1, 2021, at Northern Regional Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility. Ms. Leftwich was born February 10, 1939, in Surry County, the daughter of the late Rev. John Porter and Myrtle Mae Blizzard Cockerham. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who will be dearly missed. Left to cherish her loving memories are two daughters and sons-in-law, Shannon and Tommy Marion and Annette and Steve Golding; a son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Vivian Leftwich; six grandchildren, Madison Golding, Cheltsea Golding, Lark Marion, Sparrah Marion, Eric Easter, and Tanner Easter; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Erdine White; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Darlene Cockerham; a special nephew, Brian Cockerham; and numerous other nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ms. Leftwich was preceded in death by two sisters, Roberta Cockerham and Kathleen Chaney; and a brother, Roger Cockerham. A graveside service will be held Saturday, February 6, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Oakdale Cemetery, with the Rev. Brian Frazier officiating. There will not be any formal visitation for Ann at the funeral home, but the family will be receiving friends at the home of Shannon and Tommy Marion on Saturday after the service. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Twelve Oaks Nursing Facility, the nursing staff at Northern Regional, and Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care.
