Sarah Avis Bowlin Marion

Mrs. Sarah Avis Bowlin Marion, 92, of 739 Haystack Road, Mount Airy, passed away Sunday morning, February 15, 2009, at Twin County Regional Hospital in Galax, VA. She was born February 13, 1917, in Stokes County, to the late Elijah and Minnie Holt Bowlin. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Charles Lockaby of Pickens, SC; four grandchildren, Marty Marion, Matthew Lockaby, Rebecca Lockaby, and Natalie Marion; three stepgrandchildren, Ashley Lockaby Luker, Allison Lockaby Winchester, and Nathan Lundy; three sisters, Rachel Harris of Mount Airy, Rebecca Noonkester of Ararat, VA, and Jewel Edwards of High Point; and two brothers, James Bowlin of Columbia, SC, and Edsel Bowlin of Bassett, VA. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Marion was preceded in death by her husband, Herman E. Marion; a son, Eddie Marion; a sister, Clara Johnson; and two brothers, Ervin Bowlin and Leslie Bowlin. The funeral service will be held be held Tuesday, February 17, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, the Rev. Joe Atkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Blues Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
