Sarah Josephine Smith

Mrs. Sarah Josephine Smith, 93, of Central Continuing Care, Mount Airy, went to her heavenly home on Monday, January 25, 2010. She was born July 18, 1916, the daughter of Thomas Logan Roberts and Charity Kallam Roberts. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert M. Smith; and two brothers, Charles L. Roberts and Gray Hugh Roberts and his wife Olga Bliss Roberts. She is survived by a daughter, Anne Simpson Darwin and her husband, David, of Charlotte; a son, Tony M. Smith and his wife, Jewel Creed Smith, of Clemmons; a brother, John T. Roberts and his wife, B.J., of Kernersville; a sister-in-law, Helen Roberts Manges of Bloomsburg, PA; grandchildren, Robin McAdam and Scott Simpson, both of Atlanta, GA; and a special friend, Ruth Towe. Nanny was a special mother, grandmother, sister and friend. We will miss her and her sweet smile. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy on Thursday, January 28, 2010, followed by a graveside service at 2:30 PM at Midway Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
