Saundra Wilhite H. Spillman

Dr. Saundra “Sandy” Wilhite H. Spillman, 75, of Mt. Airy, passed away at Forsyth Medical Center on October 11, 2022. She was born November 11, 1946, the daughter of the late James and Gladys Puckett Wilhite.  So much can be said about the life Sandy lead.  She was driven in all that she did, she touched so many lives in all she achieved.  Her major accomplishments in her short 75 years of life were vast and many.  Dr. Spillman’s favorite quote was, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people sill never forget how you made them feel.”  She lived her days by this quote.  Sandy held a doctorate in healthcare management.  She, along with her husband and family, owned and operated The Homestead Collection at Fancy Gap.  Dr. Spillman became the Chief Operating Officer of 21 assisted living facilities throughout North Carolina and Virginia.  Additionally, she worked for Salem Senior Housing in Winston-Salem.  She also started Salem Senior Consulting, LLC where she became licensed to train administrators on how to operate adult care and family homes. Dr. Spillman is survived by her children, James Kevin Hart of Mount Airy, Scott Spillman and Sherry of Smithfield, and Dana Spillman Wills and Jim of Wake Forest; four grandchildren, Patrick, Kristen, Nick and Aubrey; her brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Juanita Wilhite of Mount Airy; and her sister Robin Wilhite DiRusso of Oak Island.  The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the caregivers, Aubrey, Megan, and Theresa, and also the staff of Forsyth Hospital especially the staff of Palliative Care for the kind and amazing care given to Dr. Spillman during her illness.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 22, 2022, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Wilborn Rives officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:30 until the time of the service.  Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
