Savannah Lee King Dowell

Mrs. Savannah Lee King Dowell, age 88 of Mt. Airy, widow of Mr. Byron Ambrose Dowell, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Dowell was born in Patrick County, September 23, 1918 to John Henry and Ada Chilton King. She was co-owner/operator of Dowell Brothers Supermarket and was of the Presbyterian faith. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Don Stone of Bahama, NC; sons and daughter-in-law, Rick Dowell of Marietta, GA; Johnny and Georgette Dowell of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, John Lee Perry, Mark Christopher Perry, Richard Taylor Dowell, Katherine Kirsten Dowell; great grandchildren, John Seth Perry, Nicholas Christopher Perry and Karina Alexandra Perry; a sister and brother-in-law, Hallie Marie and Bruce Loflen of Oakridge, TN; and a brother and sister-in-law, Vester and Dorothy King of Ararat, VA. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Dowell was preceded in death by sisters, Ellen King Clark, Mamie Taylor, and Nell Poore; and by brothers, Hobert, Meridith and Addison King. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 27, 2007 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Carol Dowell. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until the time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the American Diabetes Association at P.O.
