Seymour "Skip" William Young

Mr. Seymour “Skip” William Young, 70, of Mt. Airy passed away at his home Monday, September 10, 2018.  He was born in Geneva, NY August 25, 1948 to the late Seymour McLoud and Isabell Farley McLoud.  Mr. Young proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1969 until 1970.  He retired from Kentucky Derby and was of the Wesleyan Faith.  Mr. Young was a gentle man with a generous heart, always willing to give to anyone in need.  He is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Sherry and Michael Venable, Angela “Angie” Young, and Amy and Michael Ramey; grandchildren, Mikayla Venable, Sydney Venable, Madison Ramey, Ciara Venable and William Ramey and grand-dog, Chewy; two sisters, Nettie Nikles and Bonnie Adams.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Young was preceded in death by sister, Sharon Tohafjin and Diane Tanner; and brothers, Jake McLoud, Gene, Richard, James, Robert and George Youngs.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jackie Ray officiating.  Burial will follow in the Surry County Veterans Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12:30 PM until the time of the service.  Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
