Mrs. Sharon Faye Scott Sutphin, 66, of Mount Airy, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday morning November 21, 2022, from her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Surry County on September 8, 1956, to the late Charles “Charlie” Washington Scott and Peggy Jacquelin “Jackie” Thomas Scott. She was a retired seamstress and member of Salem United Methodist Church. Nanny Sharon was a caretaker to all of her family and friends. Mrs. Sutphin is survived by her husband of 46 years, Bernie Ray Sutphin, Jr.; daughter, Holly Sutphin Hayes; son and daughter-in-law, Bernie Ray Sutphin, III and wife Amelia Dawn; grandchildren, Charlie Sutphin, Elle Sutphin, Dillon Sutphin, Hunter Hayes, and Isaiah Hayes; twin sister, Karon Thompson and husband James; sisters and brothers-in-law, Charlene Melton and husband Joe, and Robin Edwards and husband Derrick; and many other family members and friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sutphin was preceded in death by an infant sister, Hope Carol Scott; and her brother, Jeff Scott. Funeral services for Nanny Sharon will be held on Friday November 25, 2022, at 2:00PM in the Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with the Rev. Bud Cameron officiating. Burial will follow in the Maple Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
