Sharon Kay Tucker

Mrs. Sharon Kay “Pat” Mooneyhan Tucker, 76, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday, August 12, 2018, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.  Mrs. Tucker was born June 11, 1942, in Surry County, one of four children born to the late John Alton and Lettie Evelyn Atkins Mooneyhan.  Sharon was a loving wife and mother, a homemaker, and a member of White Plains Baptist Church.  She is survived by her husband of 60 years, the Rev. Billy Tucker of the home; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Mary Evelyn “Cindy” and Steve Hutson of Ararat, and Elsie Louise and Wayne Coleman and Dorothy Lynn Gunter, all of Mount Airy; four sons and daughters-in-law, William Herman and Patricia Tucker, the Rev. David and Thresa Tucker, and Mike and Cheryl Tucker, all of Mount Airy, and Timmy and Mandy Tucker of Pilot Mountain; sixteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Hattie Ruth Jenkins of Auburndale, FL; a brother, Arnold Mooneyhan of Lambsburg, VA; a half-sister, Kimbel Mooneyhan Middleton of Mebane; and two half-brothers, Matthew Mooneyhan and Brett Mooneyhan, both of Mebane.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tucker was preceded in death by a grandson, William Herman Tucker, II; and a brother, George Alton Mooneyhan.  The funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at 2:00 PM at White Plains Baptist Church, with the Rev. David Tucker officiating.  Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the White Plains Christian School, 609 Old Highway 601, Mount Airy, NC  27030.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
