Sharon Grey (Mayes) White

Mrs. Sharon Grey Mayes White, age 60, formerly Salem, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.  Mrs. White was born April 6, 1963, in Galax, Virginia to the late Eldean and Barbara Ann Reeves Mayes.  Sharon was an employee of Elizabeth Arden Cosmetics for many years and a dedicated member of Zion Assembly Church of God in Roanoke, Virginia.  Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Joshua Dean Compton and wife Brittney of Vinton, Virginia; two grandchildren, Riley Johnathon Compton, Kaeleigh Grey Compton; and one sister, Dana Lynn Brunk of Thaxton, Virginia; sister -in-law and brother-in-law, Fay Compton Harlow and Jay; several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews; along with her special friends, David and Yvonne Parker, Maxine and Joe Wright, and Sherri Brintle.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. White was preceded in death by her first husband, Larry Elmore Compton, her second husband, Garry Dean White; numerous aunts and uncles; and a nephew, James David “J.D” Brunk.  A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Ladonia Baptist Church in Mount Airy with Pastor Dewy Gibson and Pastor David Long officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at Ladonia Baptist Church from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM.  The family would like to thank the staff of Gentle Sheppard Hospice for the care shown to Mrs. White during her illness.
