Mrs. Sheila Gray Matthews Riggans, age 61 of Dobson, passed away Friday, April 2, 2021 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born March 29, 1960 in Forsyth County to the late Don Matthews and Willie Hunter Matthews, who survives. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Curtis Riggans; daughter, Stephanie White; granddaughter Kaylee McCann; grandson, Levi McCann; brother and sister-in-law, Tim and Sandy Matthews; nephew, Jonathan Matthews; niece, Elizabeth Matthews; nephew, Christopher Matthews; mother-in-law, Lucille Riggans; brother and sister-in-law, Chris and Dianna Riggans; nephew, Jeremiah Riggans; and a niece Maggie Riggans. Sheila was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church since 1999. She sang in the choir, was a former youth director and church clerk. She attended faithfully while her health allowed. She had a strong faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. A graduate of Surry Central High School Class of 1978. She was employed at Tultex in Dobson and retired from the NCDMV as a district secretary in Winston Salem. Sheila loved her family very dearly and was a proud of her daughter and grandchildren. She was a faithful and loving wife to her husband. During the journey of life, one will answer to the many points of life that we live, Sheila was a daughter who loved her parents and a sister who thought the world of her older brother. She was a loved and cherished wife who can never be replaced. She was so proud when she celebrated each wedding anniversary. She was an especially proud mother to her daughter, Stephanie. And as a grandmother she took great joy in Kaylee and Levi. She lived her life to the fullest with a joy that the Lord allowed and she wanted that that for each and every person in her life, and that that was her most sincere prayer for everyone in her life. The family greatly appreciates all the friends, family and caregivers in Sheila’s life. They truly are blessings from above, and our prayer is that that Sheila was a blessing in your lives as well. Visitation will be Monday, April 5, 2021 from 12-2:00 PM Cross Roads Baptist Church. The funeral service will begin in the church at 2:00 PM with Reverend Jeff Wall officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Following current Covid guidelines, anyone attending is asked to please wear and mask and to follow proper social distancing practices.
