Mr. Shelby James "Junior" Benge, 75, of 999 Red Brush Road, Mount Airy, passed away Friday, September 16, 2011, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. He was born June 25, 1936, in Surry County, the son of the late James Alfred and Verlie Smith Benge. He retired as a truck driver from Allied Systems and was a member of Haymore Memorial Baptist Church. Junior is survived by his wife, Linda Holloway Benge of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Kem Loville of Mount Airy; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky and Debbie Benge and Todd and Kelly Benge, all of Mount Airy; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two step-daughters and their husbands, Tracey and Mark Badgett of Pinnacle and Tina and Libra Perez of Lowgap; a step-son and his wife, Ted and Jennifer Creed of Lowgap; seven step-grandchildren, Lindsey Badgett, Nathaniel Badgett, Anna Kate Badgett, Librado Perez, Carlo Perez, Estrella Perez, and Cooper Creed; a sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Walker Thomas of Mount Airy; a brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Jayne Benge of King; and a nephew, Jimmie Thomas of Mount Airy. The funeral service will be held Monday, September 19, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Robert McCrary, the Rev. Dwight Sechrist, and the Rev. Bil Watson officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
