Shelby Williams Spencer

Ms. Shelby Williams Spencer, 70, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2016, at her home. Ms. Spencer was born July 28, 1945, in Chesterfield County, VA, the daughter of the late Henry Theodore and Shirley Thornton Holt Williams. Shelby retired from the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Transportation. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Emily Diane and Shawn Moneymaker of Chesterfield, VA; a son and daughter-in-law, Christopher Robert and Shana Spencer of Chester, VA; her grandchildren, Jacob Moneymaker, Austin Spencer, Caitlin Spencer, and Irelyn Spencer; a sister, Shirley Mae Hall of Cana, VA; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Henry and Catherine Williams of Dobson, David and Nancy Williams of Chester, VA, and Sammy and Carol Williams of Chesterfield, VA; six nieces, Vicky Hall, Tammy Hiatt, Keri Williams, Theresa Meyers, Kim Blankenship, and Nikki Sprader; a nephew, Ben Williams; several great nieces and nephews; several great-great nieces and nephews; a special friend, Jean Harold; and many special friends and cousins. In addition to her parents, Ms. Spencer was preceded in death by a brother, J.B. Williams; a nephew, Michael “Pickle” Hall; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Williams. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 PM Saturday, January 16, 2016, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Jeremy Morton officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 2:30 until 3:30 PM at the funeral home, and other times at the home of her sister, Shirley Mae Hall, 562 Cedarwood Drive, Cana, VA.
