Sherry Lynn Owens

Miss Sherry Lynn Owens, 44, of 3818 Unity Church Road, Ararat, VA, went home to be with her heavenly Father on Wednesday evening, January 25, 2012, from Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Miss Owens was born March 22, 1967, in Patrick County, VA, the daughter of Glenda Smith Owens and the late Bernie Owens. Lynn was a member of Unity Church. She is survived by her mother, Glenda Smith Owens of the home; a sister and brother-in-law, Candy and Gary Burkhart of Ararat, VA; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Dale and Angela Owens of Stuart, VA, and Brian Owens of Ararat, VA; three nieces, Tiffany Burkhart and Amanda Burkhart, both of Ararat, VA, and Kelly Owens of Stuart, VA; two nephews, Austin Burkhart of Ararat, VA, and Jason Owens of Stuart, VA; two great nieces, Alyssia Register and Emily Register, both of Ararat, VA; her maternal grandmother, Louise Willard Smith of Ararat, VA; her paternal grandmother, Mary Eliza Hooker Owens of Westfield; several aunts and uncles; her loving church family; special friends and family, Margie Stowe and Bubba Rorrer, both of Stuart, VA, and Neil Smith of Ararat, VA; and three loving pets. In addition to her father, Miss Owens was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Preston Smith; her paternal grandfather, Woodrow Owens; and a special aunt, Debbie Fain. The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 28, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Unity Church, with the Rev. Buford Jessup officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where her body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service.
