Shirley Mae Hawks

Mrs. Shirley Mae Hawks Hawks, 84, of Mt. Airy, passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Hawks was born in Carroll County on March 20, 1937, to the late Troy and Mayme Stantliff Hawks. Mrs. Hawks was retired from Renfro Corporation and attended Pine Ridge Mission Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will surely be missed by all who knew her. Left to cherish her memories is her husband of 68 years, Rev. Charlie Lee Hawks; daughters and son-in-law, Rhonda Miller, Pat Hiatt, Gail Hawks and husband Terry, Pamela Hawks, Kathy Sawyers; sons and daughter-in-law, Charlie Lee Hawks Jr, David and April Hawks; thirteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren; sisters, Patsy Collins, Jessie Eaton. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hawks was preceded in death by a daughter Lisa Hawks, grandson, Chris Williams; sisters, Jennie Bobbitt and Faye Stoneman; brothers, Ralph, Ray, and Donald Hawks. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 1, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy with services conducted by Bishop Michael Lane. Burial will follow in Hawks Family Cemetery in Lambsburg, Virginia. The family will receive friends on Saturday, from 1:00 PM until time for the service at the funeral home.
