Shirley Hiatt

Mrs. Shirley Marie Tilley Hiatt, 77 of Mount Airy, passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family.  Mrs. Hiatt was born in Surry County on June 11, 1943 to the late Terry and Alice Hensley Tilley.  Mrs. Hiatt was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.  She will be deeply missed by all that knew her.  She was well known for her gospel singing and her dedication to the Southside Baptist Church.  Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 57 years, Donald Hiatt; daughters and son-in-law, Donna Hiatt Easter and husband David, and Starla Hiatt; grandchildren and spouses, D. J. Easter and wife Tiffany, Brittany Easter, Elijah Utt; great-grandchildren, Taegan Easter, Raelynn Easter, Paxton Easter; sister, Phyllis Hiatt, Betty Bumgardner, and Mildred Berrier; one brother, Howard Tilley; several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hiatt was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Key and Ruby Robertson; three brothers, James Tilley, Glenn Tilley, Paul Tilley as well as two infant brothers.  A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 2:00PM at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Don Fellows and Pastor Tim Hall officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until time of the service at Southside Baptist Church.  The family would like to thank Rhonda, Sheila, and all of the Hospice Staff for their love and care during Mrs. Hiatt’s illness.  Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, North Carolina 27030.   To send flowers to Shirley's family, please visit our floral store.
