Shirley Esther Hodges

Mrs. Shirley Esther Smith Hodges, 83, of Mt. Airy passed away Friday, August 2, 2019 at Surry Community Health and Rehab in Mt. Airy.  She was born in Surry County on April 2, 1936 to the late, John D. and Irene Shelton Smith.  Mrs. Hodges retired from Renfro Manufacturing.  She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Dean Carpenter, Penny and Calvin Cochran; grandchildren and spouse, Mitchell Carpenter, Jr., Nicky Cochran, Drew and Tiffany Cochran; sister, Ida Mae Francis.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hodges was preceded in death by her husband, David Hodges.  A funeral service will be held Monday, August 5, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dean Eaton and the Rev. Andrew Willard officiating.  Burial will follow in Genesis Full Gospel Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt.
