Shirley Kathleen Collins Bowman

Mrs. Shirley Kathleen Collins Bowman, age 84, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Friday, October 28, 2022, at the 
Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born in Surry County on December 5, 1937, to the 
late Strody and Bertie McBride Collins. Mrs. Bowman was of the Moravian Faith and was a long-time member 
of Grace Moravian Church in Mt. Airy. She was a loving mother, grandmother who will surely be missed by all 
who knew her. Left to cherish her memories are a son and daughter-in-law, Blane Bowman (Debbie); grandson, 
Christopher Blane Bowman (Christina Snodgrass); sister, Iona Bunker; special niece, Rhonda Gates; special little 
friends, Molly, Erin, and James. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bowman was preceded in death by her husband, 
Clarence Lee Bowman; sisters, Vada Gates, Junie Wells; brothers, Claude, and Maynard Collins; niece, Barbara 
Steine, and special friend, Rex Gregory. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at 2:00 
PM at grace Moravian Church with services conducted by Rev. Robert Peterson, and Rev. Robert Dean Wolfe. 
Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1:00 PM until time
for the service at the church. The family would like to say a special thanks to all the staff of the Woltz Hospice 
Home for the care and support given to Mrs. Bowman and her family during this difficult time.
