Shirley Marie Davis Mooney

Mrs. Shirley Marie Davis Mooney, age 90, of Dobson, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at Chatham Nursing and Rehabilitation, surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 11, 1934, in Surry County to the late Charlie Franklin Davis and the late Thelma Davis Davis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Jack Robert Mooney; and her brothers, Allen Davis and Franklin Davis.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Chris Sykes; son and daughter-in-law, Clay and Mitzi Mooney; grandchildren, Christopher Adam Dalton (Eva), Dana Nelson, Clayton Bullins (Heather Marion), Jacob Sykes (Heather Fain), Noelle Sykes, and Ryan Dalton; great grandchildren, Ginny Mae Dalton, Scarlett Joyce, Jayden Gunther, Jaythan Gunther, Jaysic Gunther, Austin Nelson, Logan Nelson, Benjamin Bullins, and Aspen Bullins; sister, Peggy Littell; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Brenda Davis; sisters-in-law, Virginia Sherrill Davis, and Laura Davis; and many special nieces and nephews. Mrs. Mooney was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, was a devout Christian, a member of Copeland Baptist Church, was an avid cook, baker and canner, and had also worked at Spencers and Mountain Valley Hospice. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, March 6, 2025, in the Copeland Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Terry Brandon officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, PO Box 325, Dobson NC 27017. Moody-Davis Funeral Home is Dobson is serving the Mooney family.
