Shirley Ann Glidewell Mayes

Mrs. Shirley Ann Glidewell Mayes, 67, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, March 31 2011, at Alleghany Care and Rehab Center in Sparta. Mrs. Mayes was born December 2, 1943, in Guilford County, to the late Robert and Ella Allred Glidewell. She is survived by her husband, Curtis Holt Mayes of the home; two daughters, Deborah Hornaday of Mount Airy and Sherry Lutz and her husband,Ken of Greensboro; four sons, Curtis Randy Mayes of Charlotte, Steaven Hopkins of Archdale, Tommy Hopkins of High Point, and Kevin Mitchell and his wife, Cindy, of Zebulon; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Glidewell and Emma Jean Cox, both of High Point, and Kathy Hall of Randleman; and a brother, Wayne Glidewell of Thomasville. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mayes was preceded in death by a sister, Sheila Irwin. A graveside service will be held Sunday, April 3, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Ladonia Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Tony Holder officiating. The family will receive friends at Ladonia Baptist Church on Sunday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
