Mrs. Shirley Jenkins Pickett, 66, of Dobson, passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2011, in Forsyth County. She was born November 15, 1944, in Surry County, to the late Claude and Sarah Jane Childress Jenkins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James "Big Jim" Pickett in October 2009. She was a homemaker and a member of Second Chance Church. Surviving are her three sons and daughters-in-law, Bo and Melanie Summerlin of East Bend, Kenneth and Karen Summerlin of Dobson, and Andy Summerlin of the home; a special grandson, James William Summerlin; seven other grandchildren; a sister, Kathy Jenkins of Hamptonville; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Barbara Jenkins, Jerry Jenkins, Pete and Betty Jean Jenkins, and Eugene and Shirley Jenkins, all of Dobson; several nieces and nephews; and her special dog, Buster Pickett. A graveside service will be held Thursday, January 6, 2011, at 11:00 AM in the cemetery of Second Chance Church, with the Rev. Kevin Jenkins, the Rev. Greg Jenkins, and Jimmy Jenkins officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday at Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson from 9:30 AM until the time to go to the cemetery at 10:30 AM.
