Shirley Louise Robertson Witt

Mrs. Shirley Louise Robertson Witt, age 87 of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday evening October 23, 2024, at Hugh Chatham hospital in Elkin, NC. She was born November 4, 1936, in Giles County, VA to the late Addley Cleveland “Cleve” Robertson and Bertha Florence Kelley Robertson. She was a member of Rockford Methodist Church for many years. Left to cherish her memory are her son and daughter-in-law, George and Linda Witt, Jr.; three grandchildren, Bridget and Dale Keener, April Simmons, and Chance Witt; three great grandchildren, Bailey Keener, Alyssa Keener, and Jax Keener; sister, Reba Pruitt and Marvin Bailey; and several other family and friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Witt was preceded in death by her husband, George William Witt, Sr.; an infant daughter, Veronica Witt; an infant great granddaughter, Jade; three sisters, Lura Faye Robertson Sexton, Frances Robertson and Evelyn Christina Robertson Stafford; and by five brothers, Fred Emons Robertson, Russell Wilson Robertson, Raymond Lee Robertson, Sr., Harlan Cleveland Robertson, and Everette Eugene Robertson. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon October 27, 2024, at 2:00pm in the Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with the Rev. Dale Bass officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakdale Cemetery. The Witt family will receive friends Sunday at the funeral from 1:00 – 2:00pm. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family. Shirley never met a stranger. She loved everyone she met. Her laughter and smile was contagious. A special thank you to Lois Rogers for being such a faithful friend all these years.
