Mrs. Shirley June Robinson Smith, 80, of Lowgap, passed away Sunday night, February 26, 2023, at Ridgecrest Retirement Community in Mount Airy. Mrs. Smith was born February 14, 1943, in Galax, VA, one of four children born to the late Harvey Elwood and Gladys Edwards Robinson. Shirley was a devoted housewife and a member of Blues Grove Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Roy Lee Smith; a son and daughter-in-law, Roy Scott and Jennifer Smith; four grandchildren, Christina René Smith, Eric Jason Smith, Heather Marie Hodges and her husband, Stephen, and Taylor-Lee Hunter Smith; four great-grandchildren, Lilianna Smith, Owen Gray Hodges, Able Reid Hodges, and Cody Dean Smith; a brother-in-law, the Rev. Tony Holder; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Isabella Smith; two sisters, Mildred Robinson Evans and Shelby Robinson Holder; and a brother, Rex Elwood Robinson. The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 4, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Blues Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Travis Sechrist and the Rev. Tony Holder officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
