Shirley Vaughn

Shirley Anne Vaughn, 74, of Mt. Airy, NC passed peacefully in her sleep on Friday, June 4, 2021 at Pruitt Health Nursing Home.  Born May 20, 1947 in Mt. Airy, NC, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Vaughn and Pauline Vernon Vaughn.  Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Emily and Jim Smithson of Chesapeake, VA; son, Jeffrey Dawson of Cana, Virginia; granddaughter, Laurel Smithson; grandsons, B.J., Connor and Jesse Smithson; brother and sister-in-law Eddie and Helen Vaughn of Cana, VA, and sister and brother-in-law Phyllis and Buddy Easter, of Mt. Airy, NC.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Gary Vaughn.  A private ceremony will take place at Moody Funeral Services for the immediate family.  Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life at the Oak Ridge Baptist Church fellowship hall Tuesday, June 8th, from 3-6pm.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Stroke Association.
