Mrs. Shirley Conner York, age 78, of Elkin, passed away Friday, September 24, 2021,at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born March 1, 1943 in Surry County to the late Junior Howard Conner and the late Lela Jane Easter Conner; in addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald Matthew York; her son Franklin York; and a brother Clyde Conner. Mrs. York is survived by her son, Matthew York; grandchildren, Tiffani York and Dakota and Leah York; sister, Gladys Norman; and her brothers and sisters-in-law, Howard and Linda Conner and Larry and Wanda Conner. Shirley was a member of Union Cross Baptist Church and a homemaker. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 28, 2021 in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home, with burial to follow in the Union Cross Baptist Church Cemetery. Brother Dallas Snow and Pastor Allen Horton will officiate the services. Mrs. York will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson is serving the York family.
