Stanton "Stan" Day Simmons

Mr. Stanton Day “Stan” Simmons, age 90, of King, passed away at his home during the late evening hours of Tuesday, October 18, 2022.  Mr. Simmons was born August 17, 1932, in Surry County to the late Samuel Day and Helen Worrell Simmons.  He proudly served our country in the United States Navy 22 years, remaining dedicated to honor his country and fellow military members by becoming a supporter of the American Legion in King where he served as a past commander and continued as a member until his death.  After retirement Mr. Simmons went on to own and operate Actronics Security Systems.  Mr. Simmons is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Matthew and Tammy Simmons, Michael Day and Margaret Simmons and William Mark and Julie Simmons; nine grandchildren; and loads of great grandchildren; a sister Mary Lynn Myers; a brother Conrad Simmons; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by, his wife, Erma Snyder Simmons; a sister Kay Simmons; and brothers, David and Robert Simmons.  A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, October 24, 2022, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jack Danley officiating.  Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens with full military honors conducted by the American Legion King Post 290.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 12:30 PM until the time of the service.  Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
