Stella Venable Shaw Cleary

Mrs. Stella Venable Shaw Cleary, 88, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2016, at Central Continuing Care. She was born February 2, 1927, in Surry County, to the late Joe Bill and Eliza Jane Snow Venable. Mrs. Cleary was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Shaw; her second husband, Sandy Cleary; a son, Paul Elmer Shaw, Jr.; two sisters, Dorathy Perry and Nellie George; four brothers, Clyde Venable, Elbert Venable, Harley Venable, and Arther Venable. She retired from Spencer’s Inc., where she was a dedicated employee for over 44 years. She was a loving and caring person to all who knew her and was a faithful member of Flat Rock Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Cleary is survived by a grandson, Reggie Stanley; a great-grandson, Ethan Stanley; a great-granddaughter, Alaina Stanley; a special niece, Bessie Jones; and a special nephew and his wife, JC and Charlene Venable. The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 16, 2016, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with Mr. Wilborn Rives officiating. Burial will follow in the New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Flat Rock Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 884, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
