Stella Louellen Simpson Marion

Mrs. Stella Louellen Simpson Marion, 97, of Mount Airy, passed away early Wednesday morning, November 24, 2021, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Marion was born October 6, 1924, in Surry County, one of twelve children born to the late Eugene and Josie Bingman Simpson. Stella retired from Adams-Millis Corporation after many years of service and was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Louise and Monroe Bowman of Mount Airy and Kay and Jimmie Shores of State Road; a son and daughter-in-law, Donnie and Pam Marion of Mount Airy; six grandchildren, Nancy Welch, Michael Bowman, Misty Gentry, Amy Ward, Mitchell D. Shores, and Adrian McCann; ten great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Georgia Simpson Sumner and Shirley Simpson Nichols, both of Mount Airy; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Marion was preceded in death her husband, Gratsie Franklin Marion; an infant daughter, Fay Lou Marion; a grandson, PFC Adam Lee Marion; six sisters, Roxie Simpson, Thelma Carter, Kathleen East, Vernice Bowman, Eva Durham, and Tavie Shumate; and three brothers, Fred Simpson, Delmar Simpson, and Gilbert Simpson. A service of worship and celebration of Stella’s life will be held Friday, November 26, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Piney Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Kyle R. Caudle officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from noon until 2:00 PM at the church. Due to public health concerns, the family appreciates all attendees to wear a face mask. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017. Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson is serving the family.
