Stella Edith (Slate) Puckett

Mrs. Stella Edith Slate Puckett, age 84, of Mount Airy, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family.  Mrs. Puckett was born on October 19, 1938, in Patrick County, Virginia to the late Curtis Austin and Avor Bowman Slate.  Stella was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.  She will be deeply missed by all that knew her.  She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Mears and son-in-law, Robert; three sons; Robert Puckett, Larry Puckett, Bennie Puckett; a special grandson, Jeremy Puckett; other grandchildren, Christy Hackett, Corey Puckett, Amber Berryman, Michael Willard, David Mears, R.J. Mears; several great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; five sisters, Dorothy Slate Rives, Hazel Slate Pike, Sue Slate Montgomery, Lois Slate Flippin, Linda Slate Beasley; one brother, Homer Slate; a special niece, Lesa Samuels; several nieces and nephews; along with several lifelong friends.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Puckett was preceded in death by her husband, Aubra Edison Puckett, a son Roger Lee Puckett; a grandson, Dale Willard; two sisters, Linda Faye Slate Stevenson, Shelby Jean Slate Puckett; and three brothers, Otis Lee Slate, Jimmy Slate, Ricky Slate.  At the wishes of Mrs. Puckett, no formal services will be held at this time.  Interment in the Bowman-Puckett Family Cemetery in Ararat, Virginia.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 1427 Edgewood Drive, Suite 101, Mount Airy, North Carolina 27030.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
