Stella Snow Wilmoth

Mrs. Stella Armitta Snow Wilmoth, 98, widow of Thomas Byrd Wilmoth, of Elkin, passed away on Friday at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. She was born in Surry County on July 31, 1908 to the late Thomas Houston and Neva Ann Holder Snow. A loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Mrs. Wilmoth was a homemaker and a member of Salem Fork Christian Church. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her devoted children and spouses, Reva McDevitt, Katherine and James Current all of Dobson, Carolyn and Clay Flippin of Pilot Mtn.; Spencer C. and Maria Wilmoth of Greensboro, Wayne and Edna Wilmoth of Elkin, Tommy and Barbara Wilmoth of Mt. Airy, Don and Hazel Wilmoth, Bruce Wilmoth, Michael "Pete" and Imogene Wilmoth all of Dobson and a daughter-in-law, Bernice Caligan of Elkin; 28 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Vernice Simmons, Lena Cockerham both of Dobson and Tommie Houston Wilmoth of Charlotte. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Wilmoth was preceded in death by two sons, Kenneth O'Neil and James Alfred Wilmoth; two brothers, Otis Snow and Connie Snow; three sisters, Cassie Wilmoth, Thursie Riddle, and Pearl Perry; a grandson, Kelvin Wilmoth and a granddaughter, Marissa Wilmoth. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday at Salem Fork Christian Church with Rev. Jim Mauldin and Rev. Van Brindle officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 7 to 9 pm at Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson where her body will remain until time to be carried to the church to lie-in-state thirty minutes prior to the funeral service.
