Stephen Bryson Butera

Mr. Stephen Bryson Butera, 22, of 5012 West Pine Street, Mount Airy, passed away Monday, January 1, 2007. Mr. Butera was born May 8, 1984, in Pierce County, WA, to Cheryl Sparger Hawks. He was a 2002 graduate of North Surry High School and a member of Beulah United Methodist Church. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Cheryl and Kevin Hawks of Mount Airy; a brother, Joseph Dillon Hawks of Mount Airy; his maternal grandmother, Goldie Sluder Sparger of Mount Airy; an aunt and two uncles, Carol and Dale Cockerham and Walter R. Sparger, all of Mount Airy; and a first cousin, Jessie Cockerham of Mount Airy. Mr. Butera was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Joseph Bryson "J.B." Sparger. The funeral service will be held Thursday, January 4, 2007, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Dorothy Sullivan and the Rev. Dennis W. "Bud" Cameron, and burial will follow in the Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, and other times at the home of Goldie Sluder Sparger, 5012 West Pine Street, Mount Airy.
