Steve Eaton, 67, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, July 24, 2022.
Steve was born on November 26, 1954, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was born to the late Vance and Margaret Harris Eaton. Steve loved to read, watch Gunsmoke and other westerns, play the lottery, and test his trivia knowledge by watching Jeopardy. Had he ever taken our advice of many years to audition for Jeopardy, he would have been a champion without a doubt.
Since the age of 15, Steve dedicated his life to the automotive parts industry. He worked at Tickle’s Auto Parts, Joyce’s Automotive Supply, Auto Supply Company, and later, Factory Motor Parts. Steve delighted in meeting every customer’s need with a friendly face and a good deal. He was dearly beloved by his customers of many years.
Steve was the most wonderful man and the greatest dad. We are so blessed to have been his family. Steve selflessly put everyone’s needs before his own and made sure others had what they needed, regardless of the day or time.
Steve is survived by his wife of 42 years, Martha, daughter Kayla (Chris), son Aaron, and siblings Sandra Eaton Kimmel and Gary Eaton.
As Steve always joked, we know he is “just resting his eyes” and rejoicing in seeing his loved ones again. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, brother Alan, and his beloved dog, Junior. The family will visit with Steve’s friends and loved ones at Moody’s Funeral Home on Thursday, July 28, from 12:30 P.M.-2:00 P.M. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. followed by burial at Skyline Memorial Gardens. Rev. Buford Jessup will officiate the service. Steve would want anyone attending to come as you are and to not worry about dressing up. Flowers and/or memorial contributions (Everhart Primary Health Care, 1236 Bear Trail, Cana, VA 24317) are equally welcome.
One of Steve’s greatest joys in life was to tell jokes and funny stories to make people laugh and brighten their day. In his honor, make someone laugh today.
