Susan Charlene Horton

Ms. Susan Charlene Atkins Horton, 64, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at Forsyth Medical Center.  Ms. Horton was born July 12, 1955, in Surry County, to the late Edward and Garnett Mae Cassell Atkins.  Surviving are a nephew, Dale Atkins; a niece, Susan Hope Davis; great-nieces and great-nephews, Courtney Holland, Brittany Hill, Heather Moser, Chris Atkins, Corey Atkins, and Alec Bullington; and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews, Kenley Horton, Miracle Williams, Blade Hill, Bradyn Holland, Jared Horton, Corbin Atkins, and Asher Bullington.  In addition to her parents, Ms. Horton was preceded in death by her daughter, Nicole Horton; her son, Jonathan Horton; and her brother, Jackie Atkins.  The funeral service will be held Sunday, February 2, 2020, at 2:00 PM at Blackwater United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ray Hutson and the Rev. George Jones, Jr. officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
