Susan Rees King

Mrs. Susan Rees King, 66, of Mount Airy, lived from November 8, 1946 to May 4, 2013. She was born in Surry County to Marjorie Murdock Rees and the late Floyd Eugene "Flip" Rees. Mrs. King graduated from Mount Airy High School and then Guilford College with a BA degree in English. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She was active with Surry Arts Council and The Mount Airy Museum of Regional History. She served on the Mount Airy City Schools Board of Education for nine years, seven as chairman. She is survived by her husband, Michael King of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marjorie and Chance Reynolds of Germantown, TN, and Dr. Mary Lynn King and Jeff Weigele of Wilmington; three grandchildren, Chancellor, Rees, and Kate Reynolds; her mother, Marjorie Murdock Rees of Mount Airy; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gene and Peggy Rees of Mount Airy, John and holly lu Rees of Mount Airy; and a nephew, Samuel Rees. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Steve Lindsley officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends at her home. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the King family.
