Susan Kay Nester

Ms. Susan Kay Nester, age 63, of Claudville, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family.  Ms. Nester was born February 6, 1960, in Surry County to the late  Clarence and Gracie Wilson Nester.  Susan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.  She will be deeply missed by all that knew her.  Surviving is her spouse, Tommy Gray Burkhart; son, Joseph Gray Nester; three stepsons, Brad Burkhart, Jamie Burkhart, Greg Burkhart; fifteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Linda Nester Cockerham; two brothers, Billy Nester, Ronnie Nester; along with several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Ms. Nester was preceded in the death by one great-grandchild, and three brothers, Buddy Nester, Mike Nester, and Clarence Nester, Jr.  A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 12, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with Pastor Philip Adams officiating.  The family will receive friends on Friday, January 12, 2024, at Moody Funeral Home from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
